Excerpts : "Why should have god have anything to do with any international treaty!!"

"I think, as a Christian Union of Independent Nations, we should reflect that only at the start of the text, similar to the start of Bunreacht na hÉireann & the American Constitution. To ignore this, in my opinion, is offensive to the majority christian population of the AE/EU"

"Where was the Christian unity in World War 1, World War 2, the Napoleonic Wars, the Thirty years War etc etc.. Religion was in fact the cause of many wars in Europe's history.

Also, it's a political union, not a christian union. Many EU countries are also secular, like France.

It would be an offense to non-christians or non-religious people to include it. Faith is something you practice yourself, and if you're comfortable with it, you don't need to be reminded about it and you can admire any kind of perceived Christian unity in your own space and time.... Read More

If you believe, then believe, just keep it out of politics."

What do you think about Cóir's demands for a reference to religion in the Lisbon Treaty?

jkil your post will be used for propaganda purposes.

As a moderator you should be objective and keep your personal views off the forum unless you post as a citizen. Also if want to post extracts please explain what the extract is from and the context.

BTW I agree with most of the points you make, but as an official you run the risk of sullying the project while making your personal opinions known.

For the record I,m assuming this project is being monitored by the EU. If it,s not, it should be.

I've no idea who in their right mind would listen to Cóir.
They spin such waffle and unfounded facts that any reasonable person would automatically think that Cóir are a shady bunch.
They are right wing Catholics. Religion and Politics don't go.
It took Ireland long enough to shake the grip of the Catholic Church.

I just hope people see Cóir for who they are - extremist, right wing, scaremongers, and completely out of touch.

Ah yes, propaganda, as ever, rears its ugly head in politics.

But there is nothing new there, and we need to use our heads to try to tease out the facts in this most farcical of referendum campaigns.

I mean, Holy Joe though I am not-you could just as easily find  extreme right wing fascism in the anti-democratic re-running of the referendum, but hey!...

I just hope people see "insert as applicable" for who they are - extremist, right wing, scaremongers, and completely out of touch.

VOTE NO-Do they really need to ask twice?
