About 5 weeks ago I came across this article. I blogged about it and emailed the relevant EU commissioner.
I also emailed a few Irish politicians, namely Willie O'Dea & Peter Power.
"Surprisingly" enough I have received no reply from the EU commissioner and very sketchy replies from the two Irish politicians.
What makes me really wonder is that the article states that the funding will be received/allocated within weeks but that there has been no word or confirmation on this since.
Was this funding allocated? And if so where did it go to?

Hi EvertB.
The European Commission are working as fast as possible in order to make this funding available to Limerick. The process is taking a little longer than the few weeks, as mentioned by the Limerick Leader, but the Commission is working hard in order to maximize the effect the funding will have, by ensuring it goes to the right projects, and that it's implementation will be effective.
Funding of this scale needs careful planning before it can be released.
We'll update you as soon as we learn more.
Here's a video of Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, and Equal Opportunties Vladimir Spidla himself in Limerick talking about the funding.
He says it may take from a few weeks, up to a couple of months before it is approved and released.
