Can't believe Máire Geoghegan Quinn got nominated. Talk about Fianna Fáil looking after their own.
Poor old Pat Cox should have got the nomination. His campaigning on the Lisbon Treaty and his reputation in the EU should have been enough. Suppose he's not in the Fianna Fáil loop though.
I've nothing against Máire Geoghegan Quinn but her nomination smacks of Fianna Fáil tribalism and the need to satisfy Barroso's wish for more women in the his Commission.
I'm sure she's capable for the job, but just not the best candidate out there.

ha!
Pat Cox would have been a nice addition. He should have just joined Fianna Fáil for the craic in order to get the nomination.
