Now that Ireland have voted in the Lisbon treaty, will this effectively prevent the Irish Government from charging VRT on cars imported from the UK?
A:
The Lisbon Treaty has no affect on Ireland's ability to impose VRT on cars purchased in other countries. Direct taxation is the responsibility of each individual member state.
