Personally I believe this is a great development. However I also believe we need to set rules for this forum. Who are we talking to, exactly, local people with local authority, or local people that are selling the EU as a concept, i.e. local eurocrats that have to do and say, what their boss tells them. We need to clarify exactly who we are talking to, and what authority they have.

On the other hand we as contributors and questioners should not be anonymous.

If we set rules, e.g. we are dealing with internet / web / technical people then we need to give them time to contact the relevant expert with proper authority to answer the questions we pose.

If english is not your first language, then the forum should be able to direct you to a similar forum in your language, most likely, this website,s equivalent in your country.

This is not a criticism, it,s an acknowledgement of what I believe is a considerable development that the EU (as an entity) has to keep going all across the EU.

The questions sent into the website are answered with the support and resources the European Commission.

As regards users being anonymous, people are free to post under any name or alias they wish.

In relation to questions that come into the website, we answer them as quickly as possible, with some of the more technical questions taking a little longer.
On the forum we hope that the questions posed create and stir up debate among the posters.

In relation to other forums in other languages, this website is an initiative aimed at Ireland and people in Ireland, and is funded by the European Commission Representation Ireland.

Thank you for the positive feedback, and the success of this initiative will hopefully lead to similar projects across the EU.

Thanks Jkil - I like that this is very open and that anyone is free to disagree. Debate is always healthy - although some of the posts are, as you say, very technical!
